I’m pretty sure it’s no secret that I like the Twilight series. I know there are people pointing and laughing now…that’s OK, get it out of your system. Done? Good…let’s move on.
So I love Twilight. The woman isn’t a very good writer, but she can tell a heck of a story. I loved the first book and was very meh on the second (I just kept reading and wondering when Edward would be back. I enjoyed it a lot more the 2nd time I read it.) so I didn’t expect to love the movie but it was amazing. Way better than the first one. The addition of a shirtless Jacob didn’t hurt. And the music was great. One of the things that really makes a movie for me is the soundtrack. I would LOVE to have the soundtrack to New Moon. And while we’re at it, I want the soundtrack to Twilight. Good music is essential for running and cleaning and studying and everything else in life. These soundtracks would keep me going.
Glee. I’ve apparently been missing something HUGE with this show and I want in on it! I’ve tried to find episodes online but all that’s available is the last 5 episodes. I’m a little obsessive compulsive about this kind of thing and absolutely hate picking up on it after it’s started. So even though the 1st season doesn’t come out on DVD until December 29th, I want it. And in the meantime, I’ll take the DVD of the pilot episode to tide me over. I suspect I’m also going to need the soundtrack. When I love something I *really* love it. I think Glee would most likely be true love for me!
Darn! Most of the good songs on iTunes are now $1.29. And if you have an iPod, you may think that’s the easiest way to purchase music…not so! Amazon.com still offers lots of music for only $.99 and they have an mp3 downloader that will put the music right into the iTunes software for you so that it ends up on your iPod next time you sync it. It is really easy and has saved me a fair amount of money not only because it’s cheaper, but because they also frequently offer coupon codes for free music. Just a couple of weeks ago, I got 3 free songs by using the coupon code MP34FREE. (It may still be working, give it a try! Comment and let others know if it works for you.)
They also have a loooooooooong list (over 1300) of totally free songs. Not just a handful every week like iTunes does, but a bunch that are free every.single.day. Some are good, some are not, but there’s a little something for every musical taste in there.
And if you like Christmas music, they are offering a new song FREE each day this month!
Now if I can only save enough to get myself an iPod dock…
My kids LOVE dance parties. We always start them out with this song from Madagascar. It’s a great way to get a little exercise in a fun way, especially when the weather is dismal and prevents outside activities like it has been most of this week. As soon as my oldest gets home from school today I’ll be putting on our dance party mix and we’ll be doing a little move it, move it.
Become a fan of iTunes on Facebook and receive 20 free songs by indie artists. I’ll be honest and tell you that most of the music was not my style (including one rap song that freely used the n-word over and over and over again, so be careful before listening in front of your kids) but there were several that I liked and a couple of new songs I hadn’t heard before from artists I already like. I’m all about the indie music AND the free, so I’m a happy girl tonight!
Am I the only person who could listen to this song over and over and over? I LOVE IT! Everyone else is undoubtedly sick of it, but I never get tired of it.
I want to see them in Raleigh (August 6!) so badly but the lack of money has prevented me from buying tickets, and they’ll surely be sold out before I have the cash. Then there’s the whole babysitter issue, because I still haven’t found anyone I really trust here. But maybe someday I’ll get to see them live…when I’m 97 years old and have no kiddos to worry about!
This one is just so haunting…the lyrics, the music…it reminds me that Jesus’ birth and the circumstances surrounding it were not easy for his mother. This year I feel like I really “get it.” Obviously I’m not carrying our next savior, but the timing and our situation are not ideal. I’m putting a lot of trust in God right now, just as Mary did all those years ago.
Since it has been a while since I did a music post, I thought I’d throw out some of my favorite Christmas songs out over the next week or so! I grew up in Tennessee so this one has a very special meaning for me. It’s been known to make me cry a time or two…or every time I hear it! I do miss my Christmases in Tennessee but I don’t miss the traveling that always makes it so hectic. This year is a little harder because we won’t be making *any* Christmas trip home due to the pregnancy, so the song is especially poignant!
