Motivation Monday — Make a Meal Plan

12 Oct

This week, I vow to not make sandwiches or cereal for dinner.  (Not that I would EVER do something like that!)  Instead, I am making a meal plan now, taking out the meat that will need to thaw for each night, and making sure I have all of the ingredients.

Tonight’s dinner is a whole chicken in the crock pot, and I can’t wait.  It’s already in there and smells so yummy!  As for the rest of the nights this week, I don’t know.  I need to evaluate our meat situation and hop over to the Ingredient Search at allrecipes to see what I can put together with what I have on hand.  With any luck, I’ll escape the every-other-day trips to the grocery store for this thing or that thing so I save some money.

What’s on your plate this week?

Motivation Monday — Kitchen (and blogging!)

05 Oct

Obviously things are still weird at my house.  I am so far behind on house work.  I’m still trying to get that caught up, plus after 3-4 weeks of no computer access I just don’t want to sit at the computer.  My “addiction” is broken for the most part and I’m enjoying less time in this chair and more time with my family.  I’m using the ancient laptop (which only affords me access to a few sites, and this isn’t one of them) when I do want to use the computer and for the most part my desktop has been neglected.  So that’s where I’ve been!

Anyway, this week’s MM is to work on your kitchen.  My in-laws bought us a 48″ wide pantry cabinet to put in our kitchen and store my couponing food stash.  It’s huge and holds SO much food.  So all of my kitchen cabinets need to be rearranged now that I have this big cabinet to use for storage.  My goal is to go through each cabinet, move things as necessary, pull stuff out to sell or give away, and get everything put in a convenient place.  When I was a kid, my mom used to do this every 12-18 months.  I’ve lived in this house for 2.5 years and have never done it, so it’s about time for me to do some reorganizing.

I’m also challenging myself to sit down here every day and write a little something.  We’ll see if I can make myself do it.  A month or so ago, I was bordering on internet addiction.  Now it’s something I have to force myself to do, and that’s a good thing.

Motivation Monday — Exercise!

28 Sep

This week’s Motivation Monday is a little different.  Mainly because I got a stomach bug (along with everyone else in the house, except Violet…YAY for breastfeeding!) and I’m still way behind and playing catch up on the housework.  Does anyone want to come over and do my dishes???

So anyway, with that situation and the weather getting cooler and my husband now working out 3x a week, if not more (he’s in the local Biggest Loser contest…he only applied to support me, then he got in and I didn’t so I’m a little bitter…I really wanted to do it!) I’m ready to run again.  My back feels better, my knees and ankles feel good, and I’ve almost lost that additional 10 pounds I was told to lose before trying to run again thanks to the last 3 weeks of pain, vomiting, and general ickiness.  So one day this week, I’m going to get out there and make an effort to run.  I’m starting all over on Couch to 5K, so if you want to join me let me know!  I’m hoping I’ll be able to do the Reindeer Fun Run in Southern Pines on December 5.  It’s 68 days away!

Motivation Monday — Catch Up

21 Sep

After what amounted to 2 weeks in bed (more on that momentarily) with the back injury and now a kidney stone, my house is a major disaster area.  Dishes, laundry, dust bunnies and other filth haven’t been touched in way too long.  Obviously this needs to be rectified, quickly!  So that’s my lofty goal for the week.  What’s yours?

Motivation Monday — Consignment Sale Prep

31 Aug

This weekend, the Northwood Temple MOPS group (in Fayetteville) is hosting a children’s consignment sale.  My goal for the week is to get everything labeled and entered into their system, then dropped off for the sale.  Obviously this is not a motivator for everyone, but check your local area for consignment sales and stores.  It’s a great way to get rid of stuff you no longer need and make some extra cash!
