So much to do this week…luckily I’ve caught up and finished all of my classwork and tests for my computer class and all that’s left is the 3 part, 400 point (gasp!) final. It has to be finished by this weekend, so I’ll be working on it whenever I have the chance. I have to make about 350 points on it to snag an A, so this is really stressing me out. (Where did the girl who was thrilled with B’s go??? I think she’s become an over-achiever!) The good news is that I still have an ungraded extra credit paper, so that total may be slightly less when it’s all said and done. Still, I’m a little freaked out and procrastinating!
Then next week, I have my math final. I have to make about a 91 to score the A there. Since my lowest test this semester was a 92, I like to think I can do it but I’m still WAY stressed. It is a proctored final, which means I actually have to go in to take it. Scary stuff! I’m allowed 4 index cards with formulas and notes, so maybe I can cram enough on those to help me ace this one.
Needless to say, the focus this week is to get done with school. Once that’s done, I’ll be ready to tackle getting the house ready for my mom’s visit. She’s arriving on the 22nd and I’m so excited that she’ll be with us for Christmas!

Right now I’m holding my babies a little closer. Thankful that they are with me, and healthy, and ALIVE. I am devastated by the news locally, trying hard to understand why there are such terrible people in this world. This week I’m going to try to be a little more patient. Give them a lot of hugs and kisses and special treats just for being them. And I’m going to do my best to remember not to take them for granted going forward.
I’m also reminded that there are sick people everywhere and that no place is safe. So I will remember to trust my instincts…sexual predators don’t stop at the borders of Lee County. I know this, but it’s really been driven home over the last few days.
My heart and prayers are going out to Shaniya Davis and her family. I pray that those responsible are brought to justice and that, someday, those who love her are able to find peace.

After 1 day of running a few weeks ago, I quit again. But this morning I got up determined to get back on it. My new jeans have been a huge motivator and I want to get off this plateau I’ve been sitting on for a while now. I got up and headed to the First Baptist Church Family Life Center (which is open to the public and has an indoor walking track, gym, equipment room, etc.) and did week 2 of the Couch to 5K. It wasn’t even hard, so on Wednesday I’ll pick back up with week 3 and see how I do. I only have about 5 weeks to go if I want to run in the Southern Pines Reindeer Fun Run, so I need to step it up!

Last week was filled with good news. The biggest was news that Wells Fargo is approving us for a workout package under the Home Affordable Modification Program. We have to make 3 payments at a significantly reduced rate than what we previously had and if we can do that we should be approved for a permanent modification. We’ve been trying to get approved for this for a long time, so this was a huge unexpected blessing. I suspected we were coming close to foreclosure and I was really struggling with that. We love our house and didn’t want to have to move!
Because our living siutuation has been so precarious, I haven’t put much time or effort into things around the house lately. I’ve been completely unmotivated to even bother. Now that it does look like we’ll be staying here, we’re expecting company at Christmas and it’s time to get everything back in shape.
This week my focus is Violet’s room, which doubles as the guest room. I need to put up outgrown clothes, finish some decorating now that she’s actually sleeping in there, and get it ready for our Christmas guests. I’m thinking 30 minutes a day should get the job done…I can’t imagine it will take any longer than that!

There is no motivation at all in my house today. I’ve been fighting with my computer all morning just trying to get it to work and that has sucked out all of my energy. So what is your big goal for the week? Undoubtedly it’s something I need to do, too…

This week, I vow to not make sandwiches or cereal for dinner. (Not that I would EVER do something like that!) Instead, I am making a meal plan now, taking out the meat that will need to thaw for each night, and making sure I have all of the ingredients.
Tonight’s dinner is a whole chicken in the crock pot, and I can’t wait. It’s already in there and smells so yummy! As for the rest of the nights this week, I don’t know. I need to evaluate our meat situation and hop over to the Ingredient Search at allrecipes to see what I can put together with what I have on hand. With any luck, I’ll escape the every-other-day trips to the grocery store for this thing or that thing so I save some money.
What’s on your plate this week?

Obviously things are still weird at my house. I am so far behind on house work. I’m still trying to get that caught up, plus after 3-4 weeks of no computer access I just don’t want to sit at the computer. My “addiction” is broken for the most part and I’m enjoying less time in this chair and more time with my family. I’m using the ancient laptop (which only affords me access to a few sites, and this isn’t one of them) when I do want to use the computer and for the most part my desktop has been neglected. So that’s where I’ve been!
Anyway, this week’s MM is to work on your kitchen. My in-laws bought us a 48″ wide pantry cabinet to put in our kitchen and store my couponing food stash. It’s huge and holds SO much food. So all of my kitchen cabinets need to be rearranged now that I have this big cabinet to use for storage. My goal is to go through each cabinet, move things as necessary, pull stuff out to sell or give away, and get everything put in a convenient place. When I was a kid, my mom used to do this every 12-18 months. I’ve lived in this house for 2.5 years and have never done it, so it’s about time for me to do some reorganizing.
I’m also challenging myself to sit down here every day and write a little something. We’ll see if I can make myself do it. A month or so ago, I was bordering on internet addiction. Now it’s something I have to force myself to do, and that’s a good thing.

This week’s Motivation Monday is a little different. Mainly because I got a stomach bug (along with everyone else in the house, except Violet…YAY for breastfeeding!) and I’m still way behind and playing catch up on the housework. Does anyone want to come over and do my dishes???
So anyway, with that situation and the weather getting cooler and my husband now working out 3x a week, if not more (he’s in the local Biggest Loser contest…he only applied to support me, then he got in and I didn’t so I’m a little bitter…I really wanted to do it!) I’m ready to run again. My back feels better, my knees and ankles feel good, and I’ve almost lost that additional 10 pounds I was told to lose before trying to run again thanks to the last 3 weeks of pain, vomiting, and general ickiness. So one day this week, I’m going to get out there and make an effort to run. I’m starting all over on Couch to 5K, so if you want to join me let me know! I’m hoping I’ll be able to do the Reindeer Fun Run in Southern Pines on December 5. It’s 68 days away!

After what amounted to 2 weeks in bed (more on that momentarily) with the back injury and now a kidney stone, my house is a major disaster area. Dishes, laundry, dust bunnies and other filth haven’t been touched in way too long. Obviously this needs to be rectified, quickly! So that’s my lofty goal for the week. What’s yours?

This weekend, the Northwood Temple MOPS group (in Fayetteville) is hosting a children’s consignment sale. My goal for the week is to get everything labeled and entered into their system, then dropped off for the sale. Obviously this is not a motivator for everyone, but check your local area for consignment sales and stores. It’s a great way to get rid of stuff you no longer need and make some extra cash!
