This conversation just went down at my house:
Husband: What are you doing Thursday? (We’re trying to fit in some things and debating when we can both do them.)
Me: Nothing I think.
Oldest son: Good! I think the fair starts Thursday. (It doesn’t, but this is beside the point.)
Me: That’s great. We can’t afford to go to the fair.
Oldest son, to his daddy: That girl is crazy! (Referring to me.)
Husband: No, she’s not.
Perhaps you had to be here…maybe you need to know my husband and son, but this conversation cracked me up. “We can’t afford it.” has become my standard response to just about everything these days and he obviously doesn’t believe me when I say it any more. I guess I’m just glad my husband recognizes the truth of that statement!
