What a weekend!

08 Sep

Luckily Hanna passed us by quickly and except for lots of rain and a few tree limbs down, we had no major problems here.  We were supposed to have the first meeting of a new track & field type group my oldest son is going to be involved in that morning, but it was rained out.  We rescheduled for 3PM and it was sunny, hot and miserably humid by then!  But we did make it out there and he really enjoyed it.

Then we headed to Cary where we picked up my new Little Castle glider rocker and ottoman.  We saw it at USABaby earlier in the week and it was already discounted 50% because it was a floor model.  I loved it but I couldn’t justify the $500 considering our current situation.  We knew they were having a huge sale this weekend and decided to wait and see if it got marked down any more.  My husband called at 8AM when they opened and bought it over the phone because the price was just too good to pass up.  These are typically very expensive gliders and this one was the perfect color for our living room (which we desperately need new seating for anyway) and was basically everything I’ve been looking for in a glider rocker.  While there, we discovered that their car seats were also on sale and even though we have months to go, decided to buy one.  It was one of the premium fabrics so it’s typically a more expensive model but with the sale price it was cheaper than I’d ever seen any of these particular carseats.  So we went ahead and bought it.  (Thank goodness for plastic, I guess.  Though I’m not looking forward to the bill!)  That was the only big thing we needed that I will not buy used due to safety issues.  So though the money was a hardship right now, I at least know that we are settled with that!

Then on Sunday we got up and headed to church again.  We really enjoyed it this time as well and feel like we may have found a church home!  This is big for us…we haven’t been regular church-goers since we left Knoxville in 2002.  We joined a church while we lived in Hope Mills but never felt welcome there.  For us to be able to make this a part of our lives again and expose our children to it is very exciting.

After church we drove up to Durham to do some more baby shopping.  We went to Babies R Us where I completed my baby registry (which is more for me to keep track of things I want/need…I don’t expect a lot of gifts for a 3rd baby!) and bought a couple of sleepers for the nameless child.  We then went to Target and I finally indulged in a layette item from the Dwell Studio line!  I got a tunic and leggings set that is too adorable.  I can’t wait to get it on her!

Once home the kids called their grandparents since it was Grandparent’s Day.  We relaxed for what was left of the day, then restarted the great name debate.  All through dinner and afterwards we were throwing names at each other.  It seems our initial list of 5 is out the window and we’re starting from scratch again. *sigh*  We did find a couple that we both like, so hopefully the nameless one won’t be nameless much longer!

We really enjoyed church also and really believe that we are supposed to be there!! That is a great feeling! This Sunday will be the real “test” when we take Phillip!

I bet he’ll love it…what teenager wouldn’t??? I am pretty sure we are going to join. The kids seem to have a lot of fun and I LOVE the fact that I can wear whatever is comfortable to the services! Their outreach programs are just incredible, too. It’s pretty much the whole package for us.

I think we probably will move our memberships too!! We have visited a lot of churches and I have really hesitated “joining” anywhere until we were 100% sure, but I have “that feeling” that it is just the right fit for us! Plus…having a friend there is a great plus!
