Conversations with a toddler.

12 May

I absolutely love the developmental stage my toddler is currently in. He’s starting to really pick up words and he parrots so much of what we say. (Which means we have to watch the words we use around him, haha!) He’s been able to understand most of what we say for a few months now, but we’re just starting to get a lot of responses that we can actually translate. He says “no” an awful lot but he says it in such a sweet way that it’s cute more than annoying. Though I may be changing my tune when he’s been saying it a bit longer…

Today I asked him if he wanted a cereal bar or fruit for breakfast and actually got an answer I could understand! So I laughed and gave him a hug and a kiss and told him I loved him…and that’s when he told me he loved me too. I swear on my life, it was just as clear as day. And just to prove I’m not crazy, he actually said it again later this afternoon. Talk about heart melting!!!

Then tonight, my husband is out of town for the evening so it was just me and the boys for dinner. I made a frozen white lasagna I got at Target and it was so good…the big one didn’t like it much but the little one couldn’t get enough and kept exclaiming “Yummy!” as he shoveled it in his mouth. I’m glad someone in this house likes Italian food with white sauce…my husband hates it and my oldest doesn’t eat anything. At least now I have someone to indulge that craving with!

Fabulous. Just as I was typing this, I heard a very rude noise coming from across the room. When I asked what it was, the little one said “butt” in the sweetest little voice and started patting his backside. Like I said, we have to watch what we say in front of him. At least he didn’t try to play it off on someone else which is generally what the oldest one does…
