I had a great morning walking around downtown Sanford! We dropped my oldest son at the movie theater for a birthday party, then my husband, my youngest, and I all headed downtown to see what we could find today.
We parked on Steele Street and walked down to the Shops of Steele Street, where I finally got my cake truffles. And they were just as delicious as I thought they’d be. (Bad news for my diet, but good news for Amy!) I also got a loofah foot soap from Garden of Eden that I cannot wait to use. My feet are looking rough and with sandal season already in full swing I need to whip them into shape! We then walked up to Rick’s, which is a restaurant we haven’t tried yet. It’s located in the Steele Street Mall. I discovered that they have one of my favorite foods…gyros! It was very good and I am positive I’ll be back for my gyro fix. We then walked down to the farmer’s market where I sniffed the strawberries (but didn’t buy, because we have a mess of them in the fridge already) and bought the last (gigantic) sweet potato for a whopping 75 cents. What a bargain!
Then we walked back up to Steele Street where we hopped in the car and came home. It was a great morning and I loved being out in the beautiful weather and trying some things I’d never tried before. I know I’m a broken record on this subject, but it’s so important to support our downtown and local businesses. I know I’ve been guilty of taking every opportunity to drive to Apex, Durham, or Cary to go shopping but I’m really trying to do a better job of spending my money in town when I can.
