Not #1, but definitely top 10.

Today ranks right up there as one of the worst days of my life. After much running around and several unpleasant tests, my 5 year old was diagnosed with pneumonia today. There is way more to this story, including a doctor’s appointment on Tuesday where they missed it completely and an absolutely terrible nurse at the pediatrician’s office, but I am so exhausted and emotionally wrecked that I can’t even begin to tell this story. I am afraid I will start to cry again and the last thing he needs is to see me so upset.

So if you could, spare a prayer or good thoughts for my little boy and for finding a new pediatric office for my babies. Today was the final straw for us with this one and I’m at a loss as to where to go now. (If you have suggestions, leave them in the comments or email me, PLEASE. I am open to something in the Triangle but would rather stay local if we can.)

And exhaustion sets in…

This week has been an absolutely insane week. And today just gets better. I have 3 appointments, all before 1PM. They start in an hour, and I am sitting here, still in my pajamas. One of the kids is dressed because he can dress himself, but the other one is still in pajamas. Assuming of course that he hasn’t stripped to his diaper already…

I feel queasy and don’t know if it’s stress or hunger (I can’t eat until after my 2nd appt, and probably won’t even have time because I have to run straight to my 3rd appt.) or if I’m getting that bug that my oldest has. As tired as I am, I have a feeling my immune system probably won’t be able to handle it. So if I shook your hand yesterday, I will apologize in advance if you get sick. Sorry! I promise we were practicing good hygiene here and being as careful as we could. I’m terrified that my youngest will get it or even worse, me or the spousal unit. My couch really can’t take any more vomit right now. It’s still drying out from yesterday afternoon’s episode.

Coupled with all of the craziness is the fact that my insomnia has kicked into high gear this week and despite being bone tired, I cannot sleep. I have a very short window of opportunity to easily achieve sleep and it usually happens before my youngest is ready for bed. That means I am not falling asleep until the wee hours of the morning and usually getting woken shortly after by a crying toddler. Even if my husband deals with him, I can’t go back to sleep so I end up getting maybe 3-4 hours of broken sleep. Considering how crazy it’s been, this is not the week for me to lose sleep.

Thank God tomorrow is Friday and it’s almost over.
